My abstract work makes visible the inner states of the mind—conscious and unconscious—that speak to a wide array of emotions. My goal is to take these inner states and render them as art forms.

These gestural abstractions on paper are inspired by three converging forces: the primordial energy that preceded life as we know it; the freedom and effortless flow I witness in my young daughter's hand when she creates without inhibition; and the discipline of staying fully present in the act of making, surrendering to a process whose outcome I cannot predict.

I start without a plan — dense fields of marks, line, and color that begin in chaos and resolve through instinct. My hand moves freely, guided by inner states I don't always have names for, until something feels complete. The process is one of surrender as much as construction.

This work is an attempt to locate imagery that is felt rather than argued, that speaks to something in the viewer that precedes opinion. I hope is that the result will reach into the sublime.
